Avera CEO Speaks on State of the Industrial Market at BoyarMiller Breakfast Forum

Trey Odom, President and CEO of The Avera Companies, recently participated in the annual BoyarMiller Real Estate Forum, hosted by BoyarMiller and held at the Briar Club.

Trey was joined on stage by Jimmy Hinton of HFF, and Abbey Roberson of the Texas Medical Center, who provided their unique perspectives on Houston’s real estate landscape.

Trey shared insight with the audience regarding the current state of the industrial real estate market, and what can be expected in 2019. He mentioned that 2018 was a wonderful” year for Houston’s industrial real estate sector, and that the market fundamentals are excellent. He said the greatest challenge for industrial real estate in the Houston market is finding large, contiguous land sites suitable for large, rectangular buildings. Also, Houston competes as a regional hub with Dallas, Phoenix and Memphis, but has the advantage of access to the Port of Houston.

He went on to say, U.S. e‑commerce growth is at nine percent and every one percent of e‑commerce represents 400 million square feet of warehouse space. That is amazing and will continue to evolve,” said Odom. In the future, we might see multi-level industrial properties in Houston like those in other places around the world.”
