Avera Receives Innovation Award for 225 RailPort Project

April 29, 2015

University of Houston graduate students and faculty recently gathered with real estate professionals at the U of H Hilton Hotel for the 2015 Innovative Practice Awards Program.

Throughout the semester, students in the graduate real estate program at the Bauer College of Business conducted research into the dynamic changes underway in industrial real estate driven by logistics of Panamax, E-Commerce and expanded petro-chem production, and the innovations in real estate that have developed as a result of these changes.

An innovation award was presented to Avera for 225 RailPort, a 600,004 SF project at the Port of Houston that demonstrates many innovative practices that were implemented as a result of the demand for a rail-served facility to support the plastics industry.

Trey Odom, President and CEO at Avera, received a plaque from Ratha Ramchand, Dean of the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, and John Walsh, director of the graduate real estate program. Trey then joined other industry leaders in a panel discussion that followed the awards presentation.
